Spending her childhood summers with her seamstress grandmother, Ottawa's Krista Norris traces the beginnings of her collection learning how to sew. That treasured memory blossomed over the years as she sketched her way through high school and continued to teach herself about garment construction, which fed her passion for design, textiles, and style.

Krista decided to pursue communications and business at Carleton University and had the opportunity to get involved with different fashion weeks. She also worked with Montréal designer Marie Saint Pierre, who empowered her to create her own line and begin to approach contemporary boutiques. Krista decided to lead with her own staple accessory and it wasn't long before her collection of next-level scarves was born.

Today Krista Norris Collection is a refined brand sold across Canada and the US with an eclectic variety of original scarves and shawls. Always classic with close attention to detail and unique textiles, Krista pushes the limits of a typical scarf with her wingtip infinity style scarf. The semi-closed seam allows the scarf to fall longer on the torso making it able to wear long or wrap twice, or even as a slouched vest or wrap.

Krista Norris continues to move around the globe, sourcing fabrics and drawing inspiration from the places she visits to the tune of France, Italy and Japan: "Traveling teaches you things no book can. It teaches you about yourself, about others, and opens your eyes to things you won’t know until you go."

Recently Krista's brand made headlines when a pair of her shawls were given from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau to Sasha and Malia Obama. The Maverick style shawls were part of a bundle of gifts given to the first family at the Let Girls Learn event, suitable in name as Krista explains her inspiration:

"I decided to name this style the Maverick while on a trip and meeting stores in Los Angeles last summer, before launching my fall line. I was thinking of the type of women I want wearing my collection, the women I look up to and admire, and how I relate to themA Maverick is someone who is independent, thinks for themselves, and stands up for what they believe in. I've always thought strongly about doing what you know is right for yourself, and the word 'Maverick' spoke to me in that way.”

Room 2046 has been carrying Krista Norris Collection for years and are great fans of her tireless dedication to quality and originality. Shop our collection of Krista Norris scarves, including the Maverick pattern, by clicking HERE!
